The Sunset Kings is a six-piece indie-rock band featuring vocals, guitar, bass, drums, violin, and saxophone. Strung together with soulfully expressive vocal work, their unique style of jazz-fusion draws elements of R&B, soul, blues, pop, gypsy-jazz, prog-rock, and metal.
RareNorm, Boston's innovation/arts blog, calls Sunset Kings' lead singer Allister Quilon's voice that "of an angel" (http://bit.ly/28Praqy). Formed in a jazz ensemble, the band frequently launches from original music into old jazz tunes by Dinah Washington, Astrud Gilberto, and Skeeter Davis, as well as spanning the 60's (The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and the Mamas & The Papas) in shows.
With the musical revision of Quilon's indie solo project of 2015, Sketches of Youth, The Sunset Kings seem poised to create a sound that bridges generations.
